Gallock - Wedge
Lock Washers
Gallock Overview
Gallock Wedge Lock Washers are engineered to ensure the integrity and security of fastener thread systems by utilizing tension instead of friction, unlike traditional fastening methods. This advanced wedge locking technology provides exceptional security and reliability for threaded connections, making it ideal for applications subject to vibrations and dynamic loads

Functional Principle
- Wedge Shaped Surface: The inside of the wedge lock washers features wedge-shaped surfaces, while the outside has radial teeth
- Interlocking System: When the bolt is tightened, the radial teeth embed with the mating surface, creating a secure, interlocking connection
- Automatic Adjustment: System movement is restricted to the inside washer surfaces, allowing the wedge locking system to automatically readjust and maintain clamping force
Advantages
- High Clamping Force: The unique cam system uses tension to create high force in fastened joints, especially those exposed to vibrations
- Dynamic Load Suitability: Gallock wedge lock washers are particularly suitable for dynamic loads, providing reliable performance in challenging environments
- Easy Installation and Removal: The wedge locking washers are easy to install and remove, making them user-friendly for various applications
- Compatibility with High-Tensile Bolts: Suitable for high-tensile bolts of grades 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9, as well as their corresponding nuts
- Reusage: These can be re-used with no reduction in function or quality

Working Principle
As shown in the diagram, the angle of the cam α of the washer is larger than the angle of the thread ß. When the fastener is tightened, the knurled surfaces grip both the bearing surface of the fastener and the material into which the bolt is being fastened. The larger angle of the cam α, compared to the smaller angle of the screw thread ß, will not allow the bolt to loosen because of the tension caused by the cam lifting
